These days, it seems like nitro coffee and stout beers are what everyone in coffee is talking about - with a smooth texture, creamy mouthfeel, and that signature nitro cascade, what’s not to love?
Joyride offices and cafes are certainly loving RISE Nitro Cold Brew - one of the most awe-inspiring new coffee products on the market today. It is made by RISE Brewing Co. out of their production facility in Stamford, Connecticut... just a short distance from coffee-loving towns like Greenwich, Bridgeport, Norwalk and Scarsdale. Now that Joyride has expanded our office coffee service and cold brew on tap offerings to Connecticut and Westchester (See below for the full list) in June 2017, here are some fun facts about the most local cold brew coffee you can get in the Tri-State area!
RISE cold brew was launched in 2015 by co-founders Jarrett McGovern and Hudson Gaines-Ross who started cold brewing coffee in their apartments. After rigorous testing, they settled on an organic Peruvian bean as the base for their nitro coffee, and the rest is history.
This exquisite coffee is cold brewed to perfection and infused with nitrogen, using a process that is very similar to Guinness - the globally popular Irish stout beer. Guinness, to make the comparison, uses what is commonly referred to as "Guinness gas," a mixture of nitrogen and carbon dioxide, unlike cold brew, which requires 100% food grade nitrogen. The result of using nitrogen is finer bubbles and avoid oxidization, which will quickly turn any coffee stale.
In short, RISE cold brew carries a less acidic taste with a slightly higher caffeine content than your normal coffee, while the nitrogen infusion provides the creamy mouthfeel and beautiful cascade when it hits the cup. To top it all off, RISE pours with a frothy head as white as Connecticut snow - providing a truly unique coffee experience.
