Whether you’re a coffee aficionado, or just want a great place to relax and enjoy a latte, you’ve come to the right place! Here at Joyride, we know coffee, and after being in Los Angeles for years now, we decided to take a look into some of LA’s must-visit cafes.
If you’re an LA local, you certainly may be familiar with one, two or perhaps all of these, but hopefully we can inspire your next coffee adventure. This list is meant to highlight some personal Joyride suggestions as well as industry-insider picks from our partners, with some detailed information on each location to ensure it's the perfect cafe for you!
1. Stumptown Coffee, DTLA
A third-wave coffee pioneer and long-time Joyride partner, Stumptown opened their doors at this downtown location back in 2013. Hailing originally from Portland, Stumptown has been providing delicious pour over coffee, espresso, and hand-crafted lattes to all of their patrons since coming to town. It's a beautiful space with, arguably, even more beautiful coffee.

2. Blue Bottle, Arts District
There are a several different Blue Bottle locations in the greater Los Angeles area, but the one we chose to focus on is nestled in the Arts District in DTLA. Blue Bottle, another long-time Joyride partner, offers an array of coffee delights and roastery tours every Saturday! Serving a rotation of blends and single origin drip coffee, Blue Bottle’s selection is guaranteed to leave a lasting impression.

3. Groundwork Coffee Co, Venice
Growing from the ground up, Groundwork’s story begins in Venice, CA a little over 25 years ago. Starting out as a small cafe offering coffee and tea beverages, they also doubled as a destination to find old and rare book. They’ve kept to their name, and have since grown to meet demand and now offer their 100% organic and kosher coffee in 10 locations in California, with two locations in Portland.

4. Verve Coffee, DLTA
This specific Verve location is quite unique; It’s a collaborative space that serves both Verve and Juice Served Here. The space offers the DTLA vibe, which for newcomers, consists of exposed exposed pipes, scaling plants, with an unfinished, industrial style throughout. Whether you love this recurring DTLA vibe, or not, we guarantee there is something to please every palate!

5. LAMILL, Silver Lake
LAMILL's Upscale cafe offering premium leather seating to all of their Silver Lake patrons. A great spot to come with a friend for breakfast, or dinner! They have an exquisite menu that offers breakfast all day and a delectable array of salads, sandwiches, and pasta.
Pro Tip: The LAMILL cold brew on tap is made by Joyride, and the very same kegs are available for offices in the Los Angeles area!

6. Intelligentsia, Silver Lake
Originating from the Midwest, Intelligentsia brings quality and care into each cup, and has been a long-time partner of Joyride. Their commitment to direct trade has allowed Intelligentsia to not only put quality first, but also demonstrate the care they put into sourcing their beans. Just walking into their cafe, you can feel that every detail is taken care of.

7. G&B, DTLA
Located in the Grand Central Market, G&B has been welcoming friends since 2012. When you walk into their cafe, you enter an extremely inclusive and warming space that welcomes you back and sets up a great place to relax and . Come with a friend, grab a coffee, and walk around the historic Grand Central Market.

8. Dulce Dos, DTLA
This must-see spot is an encore to the popular Cafe Dulce in Little Tokyo, and the second location doesn’t disappoint. Dulce Dos offers all of the same pastries, sandwiches, salads, and beverages that their parent cafe offers, along with the signature artistic feel. If you find yourself near Cafe Dulce or a few blocks over in at "Dos", we recommend that you enjoy the light and airy feel and the wall art with a popular Blueberry Matcha Latte in hand.

9. Blu Elefant Cafe, Mid-City
If you’re looking for your new go-to spot for your early evening adventures, this might be just what you need! Filled with soft couches and lacey frills, Blu Elefant creates an inclusive environment with their intimate feng shui and thoughtful design. Bring your guitar to one of their open mic nights, it will feel like you’re playing a private show in someone’s home.

10. Urth Caffe (Multiple locations)
Launched as the world’s “first exclusively organic, heirloom coffee company,” Urth derived its name from the aspects they found in their coffee - stemming from how naturally rich it is. Urth since it’s start in 1991 has expanded to 7 different locations throughout Southern California... with some truly distinct cafes!

11. Paramount Coffee Project, West Hollywood
Known locally for best Vanilla Latte in Los Angeles, Paramount offers national and international roasters along with offering unique and delicious food options ranging from short rib mole tacos to Atlantic smoked salmon. With a cafe look that is designed by Sydney-based architect Alana Cooke, this spot is clean and inviting, a great spot to share a contemplative moment. Come experience this little cafe getaway next time you find yourself in LA!

Deciding where to take your afternoon coffee break? Look no further, providing Four Barrel and Song Tea, this independent little coffee shop is a perfect place to grab a quick coffee or tea! If you become a regular here, be sure to check their website to be up to date with events going on that give you a reason to visit beyond just the amazing coffee!
