Staff Bio - Kyle McGoey
Meet the newest Joyrider – Kyle McGoey is a Dartmouth government major, a New Orleans native, and a great addition to our New York operations team!
What do you do at Joyride?
Development and Operations Intern - New York
Hometown?
New Orleans, LA
What was your first memory of coffee?
Neither of my parents drink coffee, but there was always a tub of coffee ice cream in our freezer. From there I graduated to Starbucks frappucinos (a.k.a. coffee milkshakes), then to iced coffee. Studying abroad in Italy turned me on to espresso, and since arriving at Joyride I've learned to appreciate (and make) a great pour over.
Education?
I'm currently a junior at Dartmouth, where I study Government and Art History.
Have you worked in coffee before?
Nope!
Pet Peeves?
Stepping in dog poo. Easiest way to ruin a day, and it happens to me way more often than I'd like to admit.
Favorite Book?
Three-way tie! Blood Meridian, Infinite Jest and The Dharma Bums.
What kind of music do you listen to?
Anything I can get my hands on! I write music reviews, so I'm always trying to find new stuff; at this point, my headphones might technically qualify as an extension of my body.
How do you take your coffee?
I'm not too picky - hot and black, iced with a splash of half-and-half, it's all great. If I had my choice, though, it'd be an espresso doppio, with a tiny pinch of sugar, from Café Sant'Eustachio in Rome.
