Staff Bio : Rob Dolan
What do you do at Joyride?
I’m a Business Development Specialist.
Hometown?
Larchmont, NY
What was your first memory of coffee?
It was taboo. I wasn't allowed to go near it. Coffee was always billed as something "identifiably adult," so of course I couldn't wait. When I was somewhere around 8 or 9, I was given a glass of milk with a dash of coffee. I felt triumphant.
Education?
I did my undergrad at Binghamton University, studying English lit & journalism. Later, I got my M.Ed in Curriculum Design at St. Michael's College in Vermont. Coffee happened to me by accident - and it's still happening.
Have you worked in coffee before?
I roasted coffee for several years at a small, independent cafe & roastery in Burlington, VT. I had my hands in just about everything there - wholesale sales, product development, cold brew production, latte art throw downs, etc. It was a truly special time.
Pet Peeves?
"Your," and "You're." #englishmajor
Favorite Book?
Probably "The Giving Tree," or "Oh, the Places You'll Go!" I read both often.
What kind of music do you listen to?
Jazz, classic rock, blues, standards. I've played music since I was very young, and I'm still blown away by the oldies. Our folks had the right idea...
How do you take your coffee?
In a cup, chalice or vessel of any kind.
